Luke Is One Year Old!

On March 16, 2009, Luke will be one year old! I couldn't wait until tomorrow to post, so here are some photos from the last few days.

Here he is having fun in the push car that Aunt Tara gave him!
In celebration of Luke's birthday and because Grandma and Grandpa Siorek are visiting us, the whole family went to the Oregon coast this weekend.
Luke watching Elmo videos on YouTube.
I believe this is the one where Elmo helps Grover say the Alphabet.

A trio of nice photos from Grandma Siorek.

Pushcart

Today Luke became the proud owner of a little pushcart from Ikea. He loves to walk with the push cars at Day Care, but we didn't have anything like that for him at home. He will only walk by himself if he is holding on to something.
He was so excited. He cruised around the house giving rides to his stuffed friends.

He didn't stop until we told him it was time to get ready for bed.

Even after he got into his jammies, he had to get some last laps around the house. Look at how tired he is, but he still wants to push his cart! We literally had to pry the cart from his hands to put him to bed.
Here is a video I cobbled together from a few different clips. Watch the face that Luke makes when he bumps into the wall with the cart. The expression of annoyance is surprisingly grown up.

The Sweet Moments of Parenthood

Luke woke up at 5a.m. and after feeding himself a bottle on the couch he fell asleep again, nestled into his Boppy pillow. I left him there on the couch and he slept until almost 7:30a.m.

I was sitting at the dining room table working on the computer when he woke up. The couch is just a few feet away. I saw him stir and open his eyes and look in my direction. I smiled. After a second of recognition, a sweet smile lit up his little face in return.

I will almost forget the way he howled like a maniac at 5a.m. until we figured out the exact combination of things he wanted (bottle, couch). That sweet smile of recognition will melt my heart forever.

Mobile Luke

No, Luke isn't walking yet. I finally figured out how to get photos from my phone to my PC. So here are some photos of Luke taken from our mobile phones over the last 11 months.

Trucks, Shadows, and Dap Kings

Luke's favorite thing to do at home right now is to push his two trucks all around the house.

He loves his wooden truck that Uncle Matt made him and his plastic cement mixer.
Luke concentrates really hard on driving his trucks.

Here are some cool pictures Daddy took of Luke playing with shadows.

It's never too early to practice good dental hygiene.

More Days in the Life of Luke

Here are some more descriptions of Luke's days at Day Care written by his teachers.

I enjoyed . . .
Being sensitive and throwing tantrums. :( I played but would get mad and throw my binky down. I gave Marlo and Agnieszka lots of hugs and snuggles and didn't want to be put down. :( Love Luke

I enjoyed . . .
Flirting with Renne! I'm going to be a heartbreaker! :) I really liked chasing her up and down the climbing structure, playing with the farm animals and camping gear, and splashing in the touch tub with funnels and pans! Love, Luke

I enjoyed . . .
Playing with the link rings and reading books-- well, chewing on them mainly! : ) I was very curious about everything and liked to inspect things. I had fun playing on the small structure with Renne and Reese and checking myself out in the mirror! Love, Luke

Haircut

This is how Luke came home from Day Care one day last week.
I guess this was a hint that his bangs were getting too long.

So I took Luke to The Perfect Look family haircut place up the street, and $4.00 later his bangs were cut.
I think it looks pretty cool.

Luke showing off his ga-ga collection.
I tried to get a photo of him without the binky in his mouth but it didn't work.

Luke's Diary

Luke's new classroom teachers write summaries of his day as if Luke were talking. They do it for all 14 or so wobblers. It's pretty amazing. Here is what Luke did during his first two days in his new classroom.

Friday, January 30, 2009
Exploring my new classroom! There are so many fun toys and new friends! I really like the push cars-- I didn't walk with them, but I DO like to tip them over! I had a lot of fun with Renne-- She was really happy to see me! :)
Love, Luke

For lunch I ate: Quesadillas & minestrone soup, medium
I was: happy

Monday, February 2, 2009
Playing with my new friends and all the cool toys! I love the balls! They are fun to roll and throw. :) I was a little sensitive because I was tired but I was able to rest on the pillows! I loved the Cheerio touch tub. They are fun to eat and play with!
Love, Luke

For lunch I ate: Spaghetti & garlic bread, medium
I was: happy, tired

Then on Monday Luke was sent home early because he had a fever and he hasn't been back to school since. We're waiting to see how he feels tomorrow.
