Haircut

This is how Luke came home from Day Care one day last week.

I guess this was a hint that his bangs were getting too long.

So I took Luke to The Perfect Look family haircut place up the street, and $4.00 later his bangs were cut.

I think it looks pretty cool.

Luke's Diary

Luke's new classroom teachers write summaries of his day as if Luke were talking. They do it for all 14 or so wobblers. It's pretty amazing. Here is what Luke did during his first two days in his new classroom.

Exploring my new classroom! There are so many fun toys and new friends! I really like the push cars-- I didn't walk with them, but I DO like to tip them over! I had a lot of fun with Renne-- She was really happy to see me! :)

Playing with my new friends and all the cool toys! I love the balls! They are fun to roll and throw. :) I was a little sensitive because I was tired but I was able to rest on the pillows! I loved the Cheerio touch tub. They are fun to eat and play with!

Then on Monday Luke was sent home early because he had a fever and he hasn't been back to school since. We're waiting to see how he feels tomorrow.

Our Wobb

Luke is growing by leaps and bounds. Next week is his last week in the Infant Room at day care, then he'll be transitioning to the Wobbler Room. But on Friday he was so bored and cranky in the Infant Room that they sent him to play with the Wobbs and he had the best time!

Luke is very social and bonds with certain babies at day care, at the moment in particular with a couple of baby girls named Ava and Renne. On Friday I watched as he and Renne carried on an animated back and forth conversation in baby babble and then they both suddenly burst out laughing like one of them told the funniest joke. It was kind of eerie to see him actually "talking" to someone.

At day care Luke learned to feed himself with a spoon. It's messy, but he does it.

"Huh, I don't know how the shoes got there. I'm sure glad I don't have to pick them up."

10-Month Update

Luke is 10 months old! Some of his favorite things to do are:

Take long, hot baths
Travel all around the crib when he sleeps
Hold his own bottle

And hang out with Papa
Today we went to the Edelweiss Deli to buy some German groceries. We bought some chocolate.
And Knoedel. Yum!

Today we also went to a Welcome Home/Birthday party for Pearl Groff. Her mommy and daddy and big sister just brought her home to Portland from Vietnam. Luke was fascinated with Pearls' long, dark hair and touched it gently a few times.

Random January Pictures

Today we went across the street to meet the newest addition to the Sykes family-- Graham Walter Sykes. While we were there, Langston let Luke try on his cowboy hat. Here is Luke with Langston and Graham's Daddy.

Luke was tormenting Roosevelt while the poor cat was trying to take a nap. Watch Roosevelt's paw here ready to strike . . .

Don't worry. Luke was fine. Roosevelt is careful with his claws.

Last weekend we got Luke a big boy car seat. Although he's not a year old yet, he's 5 pounds over the 20-pound requirement for a front-facing car seat. He was HATING his rear-facing, infant car seat, and we were tired of the daily meltdowns on the way home from work. You can't tell in this picture, but he LOVES his big car seat so much. When we turn around to look at him he just grins from ear to ear and looks so proud.

Luke is eating a lot of finger foods now and often won't take food on a spoon. He loves bananas, cheddar cheese, saltines and applesauce! This is not a great picture, but it shows how huge his hands are.
Here is Luke wearing his choo-choo train sweater from Anita and Steve, Zoe's parents. It seemed so big when we first got it!

Two Thousand Nine

Happy New Year, Everybody!

A couple days ago I left Luke alone in the living room for a minute and when I came back he was standing and looking out the window like he is here. It was so darn cute, but made me feel nostalgic already because he is growing so fast. (There's the Wrigley Field hockey match Chicago vs. Detroit on the TV.)
