Not the same night as the previous picture, here is Luke surprising me by falling asleep on the floor as we were talking about our day. He has recently started rolling over in his crib and sleeping on his stomach.

These last pictures are from today. We spent a lot of time outside cleaning up the yard while Luke took a nap in his stroller. Here is the pergola and flagstone patio Matt built last year.

Luke loves to go around the garden and look at flowers and feel leaves. He is very gentle with the flowers and leaves and doesn't try to put them in his mouth.

I included this last picture because Matt thought that Luke looked like his Dad.

Day Care

Luke really likes his Day Care. Every morning when we walk in he is all smiles. He smiles a big good morning at the other babies, his "friends," -- Camille, Morgan, Travis, Reese, Isabella, Lillian, Jackson, Tallinn, Hugo, Preston, and Graham. The first few weeks it was really hard to leave him. Now we feel really good about it. He gets a lot of stimulation and social time, and also sleeps really well there. He takes longer naps at Day Care than he does at home.

This morning, Luke got a lot of 1-on-1 time.

There are about 10 to 12 other babies in the infant room with Luke. There are about 4 to 5 teachers. The babies also play in the splash tub and go outside. They sing songs and read books and stare at bubbles. And of course, they roll around a lot on blue mats and play with toys that the teachers switch out every hour. Matt and I try to go see him every day at lunch. The Day care is only a couple blocks from where we work. When Luke is 11 months old he will graduate to the Wobblers room.

And after a long day at school, it's always a good idea to take a bath.

Little Outlaw

Luke had a very busy day today. Here is what he did.
He woke up and put on his Johnny Cash Folsom Prison shirt.
He ate and played and hung out for a little while.

Then he got tired.

When he woke up we walked to the park.
Luke sat up in his stroller and looked around. He was very proud.
When we got to the park he had some lunch and then he got sleepy.

In fact, we all got sleepy and so we all decided to take naps.

When we got home from the park, Luke played for a long time.
Then Mama decided to go to Ikea to get Luke a high chair.
Luke decided to go, too. He had never been to Ikea before.
But he fell asleep in the car and slept the whole time he was at Ikea.
He also slept the whole way home.

When we got home, dinner was ready.
Mama put Luke's high chair together so we could all eat at the table.

Luke really liked sitting at the table.

Four Months Old

Luke had his 4-month check-up this week and everything looked good. He weighs 18.5 pounds and is 27.5 inches long. He's in the 98th percentile for both weight and length.

Dog Days of Summer

Luke went to a birthday party this weekend with Mama and Daddy. The party was on a farm in Yamhill, about 35 miles southwest of Portland. Luke had a great time! He was very good. Matt and I were proud. He is very interested in new situations and loves looking around at new people and things.

In the Beginning

Week 15

Luke has a very expressive face. He can look like a different baby from one moment to the next. I think as he is getting older, more of my features are starting to emerge. It's fun to see bits of your own face looking back at you. I dug up my very first passport picture and compared it to a picture of Luke.

This weekend we went to Sauvie's Island and visited a farmer's market. Here are some pictures that Matt took.

Luke has been spending a lot more time on the floor lately, just hanging out and learning how to grab his toes and roll and hold his head up when he is laying on his stomach.This morning, I watched as Luke rolled over from his left side to his stomach! He was very proud of himself. I think he is learning so much just by watching the other babies at Day Care. Most of them are older and are sitting up, scooting around on their bellies, holding things, and standing. One day when I went to pick him up he was staring at a baby girl named Reese who was rolling all around and he was just laughing and laughing at her. It was awesome to hear him laugh like that. Here is Luke wiped out after one of his days at The Children's Garden Day Care Center.

Here is another trick Luke has learned this week. Matt taught him how to "hold" his own bottle.

Daddy's a Funny Guy
