Busy Labor Day Weekend

September in Oregon this year has been great so far. We got a nice stretch of the hot, sunny weather we were missing in the early part of the summer.

On the Friday of Labor Day weekend Luke was off of pre-school, so we hung out in Lake Oswego for an hour before going to get his haircut in West Linn. The town of Lake Oswego is beautiful and dotted with sculptures. Luke had a great time finding and exploring the sculptures.

Then on Saturday we went to a vintage British race car show at the Portland International Raceway. It was great! Luke loved the races, even though it was super loud and he made us put our hands over his ears.

So many beautiful cars on display.

We spent at least an hour watching slot car races. Huge hit. I was glad Luke did not want to try this year. He would have gotten too frustrated and cried.

Hanging out by the starting line, watching the cars line up for the slalom.

Then on Sunday we went to a birthday party in a park.
Luke's friend Henry from day care was having a pirate party!

Waiting for turns to hit the pinata.

Summer of 2011

Here are some random summer pics I have been too busy to post.

We've gone to Wilson Pool a couple of times this summer.
Here is Luke lounging poolside with some popcorn.

A hot day, hot boy

A sleepy morning. Woke up early and fell asleep again
on the couch with his "best friend" Ro-ro.

Luke built this track all by himself without any help from mom and dad!

Stamps! A just-because present from Grandma Siorek.

Pickathon 2011

This Saturday we went to Pickathon, an annual Portland music festival on Pendarvis Farm. It's a three-day festival with camping and six music stages, food, drink, and lots of fields and woods to run around in. I can't believe we have lived here for 6 years and have never gone before! It was so much fun and next year we hope to go again and this time go camping.

These first two pics were taken while we were waiting for a puppet show to start.

My favorite stage was the Woods stage.
It's a beautiful, magical music venue set up in the woods.
Here is a concert going on.

And here we are set up on a blanket in the woods listening to the concert.

There are lots of kids activities, too. Here we are waiting in the line for face painting.

And after. Luke decided he wanted a snake on is arm.

Luke and Daddy. Luke was pretty wiped out by this point.
Happy boy with snake tattoo.

Bean Bag Toss

Matt took these pictures at pre-school.
The kids were lined up on the playground playing bean bag toss.

Luke Loves Bubbles

I don't think there is a three-year-old boy who enjoys bubbles more than Luke.
We spend a few hours a week blowing bubbles in the back yard.

He thought I was pretty funny this day.

Rainbow Child

Luke and I were at a Portland Parks event, and he surprised me by insisting that he wanted to get his face painted. He'd expressed interest in getting it done before, but would always get too shy to go through with it. This time he really meant it.

He was pretty proud of himself.

Berry Picking

Matt took Luke berry picking on Sauvie Island a couple of weeks ago.

Luke loves blueberries. And he ate one for every one he picked.

After a hard afternoon in the fields, Luke relaxed on the tire swing.

Home Sweet Home

We are really enjoying our backyard this Summer.
We created this graveled play area for Luke's sandbox.

Luke on his tricycle. He's going to be due for a pedal bike soon.

And last weekend we went to Hood River for the Thomas the Train event.
Here we are riding "Thomas."
